What’s on Your Book Shelf?

One of my friends left me a lovely message in response to a post I wrote.  “Laurie, you must read a lot or really have a grip on life…”

Yes, I do read.  At any given time I could pick up the Bible, or a beloved Morning Affirmations excerpt; text written on the abundance available to all or delve into my spiritual being.  Then I may read a few chapters on life and success strategies.  I read to examine myself, to find within what I’ve forgotten.

I’ve always loved to read yet confess my literary bent was always in fiction.  I lived and read about others imaginative characters and lives.

Ah, the adage of age, circumstance and where I am in life comes blazing to the front of my thoughts – My discontent led me to pick up books written by those who have done what I now dream.

To me, it’ all part of my critical thinking to ask what’s next, what  more is there, what else.

I now desire to awaken from the hypnotic stupor I unknowingly allowed myself to be entrapped.  The social norm, the status quo no longer is acceptable.

I read from those who’ve awakened themselves and now pave the way to my enlightenment.  A dear friend of mine spoke of this journey recently at a gathering of other like minded souls.  She attributed her success to being a “world class follower.” I wholeheartedly agree since I began my journey of growth.  The very leaders I admire have broken down the barriers and I can follow them through the opening.

It doesn’t matter if my attempts at first seem clumsy and awkward; after all it took years of indifference to get me here.  I get impatient and anxious at times with myself when I fall back into old habits.  Nonetheless, I’m moving forward, shedding the weight and layers of conditioned thoughts and coming up with a few new thoughts of my own.

I hope all of You reading this find Your leaders to follow until the day comes when You turn around and realize others are now following You.   Life is like an echo, what one person sends out to the world echoes in the heart and mind of another then comes back enriched to the giver.

Tip To Attract Abundance Thru Your Vibration

A quick tip shared by Susan Hanshaw to raise Your vibration is when someone asks You
“how are You?” notice your response.  Do You typically answer “fine”, “ok”, “hanging in there”?  Or do You respond with a resounding “Awesome”, “Fantastic”, “Fabulous”?

When You notice the way You answer this simple question it can tell You a lot about where Your vibration or energy levels are, and in turn what You are creating and attracting!

Check it out.  Just say, “I’m fine.”

What’s Your energy feel like? How  does that make You feel inside emotionally, spiritually?  Do You get an uplifed and excited feeling or do You just feel fine?

Ok,  now try saying to Yourself,  “I am AWESOME!” Say it with FEELING and conviction. (Stand in front of a mirror and SEE Yourself expressing that higher vibration - nobody will know!)

How do You feel now?

Be honest, do You feel the same as Your previous response or has Your energy increased?

The entire Universe and everything in the universe is Energy, including the feeling behind the words we choose to think and speak.  The words You use have meaning to You.

In critically thinking would it be in Your best interest to be aware of what Your projecting and attracting?

The next time someone asks You “How are you?”  What are You going to say?

Do You Use Targeted Niche Marketing?

Target marketing can be an important key to your business success.

To some, Target Marketing implies breaking a particular “general” market into segments, then concentrating Your efforts on one or two key segments. If Your business, for example, offers a service for homeowners, advertising in a newspaper to the “masses” is “ok” but not necessarily targeting Your specific market. Instead You could tailor Your marketing efforts directly to those who actually own a home and would be most interested in Your service.

With a little bit of research, You can zero in on specific clients looking for You. Ask Yourself who is most likely to be interested in Your service then find the vehicle that best reaches Your potential clientele.

Be a client Yourself. 

Where and how You would look for the service Your providing? A local Home For Sale Guide could be advantageous if Your service helps sell or buy a home; establishing Yourself online through forums where Your service would be beneficial goes a long way in finding potential clients. Building relationships, offering helpful responses goes hand in hand in building people’s trust in You and the service You offer.

Niche marketing is a focused, targetable portion of a market. Specifically, niche marketing addresses a need and a solution for a product or service that is not being addressed necessarily in the mainstream of providers. Think of a niche market as narrowly defining a group of potential customers.

Instead of offering cleaning services for a home, a business might establish a niche market by specializing in specific cleaning services, such as blinds and draperies; area rugs, or even pet beds, blankets, and such.

What’s the benefit in establishing a niche market?

One great advantage is being the only one offering Your unique service in a particular field of service or solution; on a local level other small businesses may not be aware of Your particular niche market, and large businesses just won’t want to bother with it.

Capitalizing on a niche market involves a bit of creativity and imagination in finding or developing a market niche that 1. has customers who are accessible, 2. involves a need in a area that shows growth potential; and 3. is not already owned by an established vendor already.

If Your one of the many that believes selling to the widest possible market is the surest path to success think again. Don’t be afraid to pursue a niche based on a fear of losing business. If You’ve been trying to “sell to the masses,” ask this, “how’s that been working out for me?” Do You stand out when You market Your business without a specific, distinctive set of prospects in mind?

Defining Target and Niche marketing can be summed up like this:

Target a group of people most likely to buy Your product or service; to find Your niche, discover and offer a specialized solution to a need or problem.

Network Marketing - You Are Perfect to Play!

I shared this with my dear friends and Mentors this morning.    “I think I just got “IT” when you say, “Your Perfect Just The Way You Are…”

I always looked at that statement to mean anybody can “play this game” no matter Your background, education and such; but I didn’t take it further - I don’t think I took that from my head into my heart.

My kids were watching an older movie, “Dodge Ball”, with Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller; a bunch of misfits from a run down gym gathered together as a team to compete for the National Dodge Ball championship - the prize money to save the gym.  The usual slap stick, funny in parts, brilliant really when I stepped outside of the humor and saw simple people with their “fears” and “lack” super exposed in a comedic way.

The “leader” is riddled with his own “fears,”  and accepts the flaws and weaknesses in each individual.   While they come together as a team to practice and play the game,  their strengths emerge one by one.  Their weaknesses take a backseat.  Each member on the team draws upon an inner character strength when he or she was ready.  At the end of the movie, Vince Vaughn has his gym and walks across the screen saying,

“Hi. I’m Peter so n’ so, owner and operator of Average Joe’s Gym.  I’m here to tell You, You’re perfect just the way you are.  But if You feel like losin’ a few pounds, gettin’ healthier, and makin’ friends in the process, Joe’s is the place for You…”


I’m perfect right now, today with all my faults and flaws and weaknesses because at the same time my strengths are emerging in my own time.

I’m an Average Joe with a dream.

My plan?

I’ve aligned myself with a team of like-minded people all desiring what I desire; people who have successfully achieved their dreams!  Mentoring For Free led me to my mentor, who in turn is leading me away from wallowing in weakness, my frustration with lack, and helping me grow in strength, confidence, and self-assurance right into my burning desire.

I’m perfect just the way I am and am ok with failing forward.   I don’t want to “dodge the ball” anymore or take a hit and sit on the sidelines.   I want to catch that ball and run with it. I have the team and the tools I need to Succeed; as an added bonus I’ve received friendship, guidance, understanding, patience and belief until I could believe in myself.

My Team gave me TIME to understand I’m right where I should be.  Today with their help I’m strategically re-formulating my plan to achieve my “Why.”

“Network Marketers - Who Are You Leaving on the Sidelines”

I went to my daughters volleyball game the other night, as I have practically every Thursday night, paying my $4.00 at the door.  Before I left I sent every positive thought I could invoke that I would get to see her in the game instead of warming the bench.

As a parent, the saddest thing to me is to see my daughter sitting there, a resigned expression on her face as she watches her team from the sidelines.

My first instinct is to confront the “Coach” and ask what is the purpose behind the decision to leave one player sitting on the bench all night long (ok, you can all imagine I struggle to maintain my “poise” and “maturity” here).

My frustration here is in my efforts to instill self-confidence and assurance through encouraging my daughter to BE the BEST she can be, give it her all, be positive, she’s just as beautiful and talented and athletic as anyone else.  We’re not quitters, I tell her……we will not stop three free from the gold!

As I put down these thoughts, I can’t decide am I being a Mother, a Coach, a Mentor, a Leader or all of the above.  My critical thought process is ramming up against a “brick wall,”

I think of the people I coach and mentor and mentally examine if I’ve left someone sitting on the bench.  I think of my daughter and all the practice she’s had, but very little of the actual “Playing” time on the court.

A Leader will involve, inspire, encourage others to believe in themselves, to have a mind set that says, “I can do this“; and encourage them to actively participate in their personal success as well as their community’s efforts to achieve success.

A Leader can provide all the tools to educate and encourage people to“practice” the skills they need to advance and grow, but if the team or even one member isn’t actively participating and just sitting on the sidelines warming the bench there can be no success for anyone.

Once in a while it may be a good idea to ask if You’ve left someone sitting on the bench.  Is someone looking for guidance from You on how to get active, and participate?

It could be a simple matter of singular focus on that first step onto the playing court, or even what comes after that?  All theory and no action can cost You a very valuable player!

Network Marketing Dares You to Dream

I stood outside my house yesterday evening and heard, felt and saw a storm come gusting almost raging toward me.  The power and energy I felt was amazing!  The wind blowing the tall evergreens and walnut trees as if they were willow twigs, thin and frail.  The trees stood firm, bending but not breaking.  I stood out there too, daring the storm to bring it on, bracing myself for it’s onslaught.

It reminded me of all the battles I’ve recently faced head on in my Network Marketing business.  There are many storms that try to break my Dream, bend my will to another path, steer me off course.  But like the powerfully strong resistant evergreen, I stand firm in my burning desire to focus and proceed on a proven path to success.  I may bend like the Walnut tree, but I won’t be broken.  Let others decide for themselves if the hard work and struggle is worth it - I know for certain that owning my life is definitely worth the battle.

Afterward, the storm having passed almost as quickly as it came  upon me, the sun was back, setting in the west and there was a marvelous rainbow, seriously vivid colors in blue, green, yellow, orange and pink and a hint of a second one above that!  There was a peace and calming atmosphere after that storm.  I find that often in my life as I’ve dared myself act upon my dreams and desires.  Stormy resistance, then a resurgence of peace knowing I’ve made a successful stride towards my dream.  If I never took action, would I be like the willow twig and break off in the wind?

You’ll never reach your dreams until you dare.

Every great achievement begins with a thought, an idea that leads to a dream. If you can Imagine a better life, Believe it can happen, then the chains that You’ve bound Yourself with break away.  Think of the computer Your now using to view this, it came to BE by a thought, in the imagination of a college student most likely who dared to believe this technology was possible.  Taking notes with a pen? Someone had the idea to take ink and contain it in a more useful way with which to write…Everything You see around You today, every invention, every progressive step was first a thought, a dream, then a burning desire to see the impossible become possible.

It’s that simple.

All that holds You back is Yourself.

Your success story starts when you Dare to Dream. I dared to imagine,  and became truly aware of my passive lack of action.  I dreamed of a life worth living but didn’t believe.  I waded through my dream state through time and Dared myself to Believe.  I woke up and decided not to waste another minute.  To anyone who said I couldn’t, I said I could.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who only dream about living, and those who act upon their dreams.

Another amazing thing I learned along this journey, this daring act of mine was that I didn’t have to do this alone!  “No man is an island,” resounds in my head as my genuine community of friends who’ve been where I was, helped me climb up out of the valley and into the sphere of my burning Desires.

Reach out and dare Yourself to believe the impossible IS possible;  I and a host of others will be there to give You a hand, help You every step of the way on YOUR journey of Daring to Dream.

Network Marketing - Stealing The Dream

Did someone steal Your Dream?

One of the best kept Secrets  in Network Marketing and MLM’s to successfully reaching Your Dreams, Desires, Goals, is to KEEP it a Secret.

Don’t tell Your circle of family and close friends what You are doing.

Most people in Network Marketing and MLM businesses have been trained otherwise, but then most people in Network Marketing have realized a 97% failure rate in their attempts to follow the road less traveled.

Unless You’re sure of the person whom You reveal Your heart’s desire to, sure they have the vision, the “Y” factor that spurs You on, they will never ever understand.  They will do everything in their power to dissuade, discourage, and dampen Your power, energy and enthusiasm.  They will Steal Your Dream if You let them.

It’s not intentional sabotage.

Those wishing you the best mean well, it’s only that they lack Your vision.  They will steal Your dreams in the name of love and concern for Your well being. Or, sadly enough, they will try to steal Your dreams because of their own insecurities.

Seek out those in a community of like-mindedness; with dreams and desires as large as Yours.  Align Yourself with people who have already done what You desire to do and Be.  Then, let Faith and Belief in Yourself grow.  Borrow their Belief in You until You Believe in Yourself.

It is only through the support of others wishing only Your success, offering You their knowledge and skills that You’ll realize that all IS possible.  Take back what was stolen from You.  What You think of, the positive energy You apply to Your idea, Your dream and the Life You desire, will find its way into Your reality.

Would It Be Ok To Recieve Mentoring For Free?

On my social sites, I notice a multitude of “opportunities” offering help in building a successful income on line through Network Marketing or an MLM Opportunity.  One after the other touts why THEIR course, their system is THE way to generate leads, traffic and earn instant financial rewards.  Videos open up when I click on the links, even when I thought I was clicking on a bio of the advertiser, all sorts of noise seems to be shouting at me, confusing my mind with chatter.  Do this, start here, this is the ONLY system, it’s new, it’s better, its cutting edge; throw out old school (I’m really tired of that term now, aren’t you?).

If Your are taught once, taught right, and supported by a team of mentors with YOUR success upper most in their minds, would that be ok?  Would it be OK if it didn’t cost you one red cent?

Most people will agree that times have changed, there is a constant stream of information as well as opportunities coming at You from all sides, BUT people haven’t changed.  The bottom line is still and will always be PEOPLE.

If You want people to view Your opportunity, You still have to create a relationship with them.  Success isn’t going to depend on how many courses You’ve bought into (how many different “guru” courses do You need pay for to tell You the basics that can be found for free?); Success isn’t how many books you’ve read (continuing education and learning is important but unless You put Your knowledge to action, it isn’t going to matter how many books You’ve read - the results will be the same - ZERO).

Success isn’t dependent on how well educated You are either.  What’s the point, if all You ever do is get educated enough to get ready, to learn more and be a spectator who observers rather than acts? In reaching Your Dreams and Goals Your Ultimate Success or lack of Success comes down to taking action, and using Your critical thought process to discern the best choices necessary to achieve Your dream.

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU SAY; IT’S THE WORDS YOU USE!

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU SAY; IT’S THE WORDS YOU USE!

Knowing the correct sequence of words to use when talking with a prospect or potential customer is a skill that you must master if you want to find success.

To know what words to use you must understand how the mind works and makes decisions.
Master Industry Trainer, ‘Big Al’ Schreiter, shared with some of us, a study that was done to find out how people go about making decisions.  Researchers found some interesting if not for some unsettling facts.

ALL, yes that is A-L-L; ALL decisions are made by the subconscious mind and within 7 seconds!

This information shocked and insulted many of us!  THIS COULDN’T BE!  We are smart, intelligent people and we’d like to think that we make conscious decisions that are contemplated longer than 7 seconds!  That would be no, we don’t.  As brilliant as the conscious mind is with all of its intelligence the conscious mind is about the size of a pea.  Compare this to the subconscious mind that is enormously vast.  The complete filing cabinet of your life, every memory, every lesson and things learned; all thoughts regardless of their origin, worthiness or truth, the part of our brains that accepts and internalizes any little thing that enters it?  This is the part of our brain that makes ALL our decisions?  I was growing weary, in total disbelief if not boarding angry…how could this be?

Then, “Big Al” went further, he proved it!  He asked us to tell him what thoughts we have when he said…”Would you be interested i…” & before he got the word ‘in’ out of his mouth, half the room loudly said, “NO!”  This was Before he could tell us anything about a business or product!  Our subconscious minds had already shut him down; he was DOOMED BEFORE HE GOT STARTED!  Therefore the commonly used words of “Would you be interested…” need to be removed from our conversations with everyone, why just limit this information to business when it is applicable to life in general and all people and relationships.

Let’s replace this phrase with a sequence of words that will allow the subconscious mind, the decision maker, to be open to what we have to say, that is what we want after all isn’t it?  Let’s replace ‘Would you interested with “Would it be okay if…”, when the subconscious mind hears this sequence of words it is always willing to go along with what you have to say next, as long as it is logical, not illegal or harmful to one’s self or other.  You’re asking permission, offering an option, this takes the pressure off.  There is just one rule, the shorter the statement the better; remember the subconscious makes up its mind in 7 seconds!  So I will use different example on various type products or reasons to join your organization so you can understand how this works and sounds:

Would it be okay if…
I showed you how to earn an extra $500 a month?
you could help your arthritis naturally?
I could show you how to save money on your electric bill?
you had more energy than your Grandkids?
someone else paid for your vacations?
worked 3 weeks and got paid for 4?
You get the idea!

The next piece of realization is that our vast, not so smart subconscious also makes decision based on no proof of information or knowledge but simply on “social proof” or ‘Herd Mentality’.  For example, you are walking down the street and you are hungry, there are two restaurants ahead but have never eaten at either.  The first one is almost empty so you walk to the next one and you see inside many people all eating, drinking and talking…in which restaurant do you decide to eat…?  The busy one of course!  But why?  Your subconscious mind decided that because all the people are there it must be better, why else would they all be there.  But that is not necessarily true, you don’t know that the food is any better or cheaper or that the second is where the fun is; for all you know the first restaurant, just opened for the day’s business or that the food is so good everyone left to get their families to bring back with them.  You really don’t know, your subconscious just decides based on nothing more than the fact there are more people at one place than another, ‘social proof’, ‘herd mentality’, that the second restaurant is better than the first.  How stupid is that, not to mention this decision was made with no validity knowledge or real proof, just assumption.  That is just how arbitrary our subconscious mind, our decision maker is!

So since the subconscious mind is the decision maker and loves to be doing what everyone else is doing, knows or says, maybe you should try this sequence of words…
’Most people…’ or ‘Everybody knows…’ or ‘Everybody says…’.

Now that the subconscious knows it needs to do like everyone else, you need to tell it why it needs to make a decision, to do what you are suggesting.  Using the word sequence of ‘If you’…(what you want them to do)…’then’…(result).  An example would be: ‘If you’ incorporate these word sequences in your conversations ‘then’ you will see an amazing change in your business.

We also need to keep in mind that our job is to get our prospects or our customers to make a decision.
Closing seems to be very hard for some folks and something the person on the receiving end doesn’t like
to have done to them, so again let’s use some words that are going to allow them to be open to what we say and to make a decision.  Use the word sequence of ‘So what is going to be easier for you…’ followed by an and/or statement.  For example: ‘So what is going to be easier for you, to get 400 people
in your organization or 2500 to earn $10,000 a month?’

Here I will give you an example using them all; it goes something like this:

Everybody knows it takes skills to be successful in any profession.  Most people want to be
successful in their network marketing business.  Everybody says that Mentoring For Free is
the best place to learn the necessary skills for success.  Would it be okay with you if I showed
you the skills you need to be successful, for free?  If you plug into Mentoring For Free, then you
can begin to change your business and your life.  So what would be easier for you, to learn the
skills you need for success or to keep struggling as you have been?

Now this is using all of them at one time and not what you would want to do in real life, you would want to sprinkle these throughout your conversation.  I just did this for illustration purposes.

Also keep in mind this is a new skill, it will require practice.  So practice out loud.  Share these skills with your team members and practice with each other, until you don’t feel uncomfortable saying any of these sequences, because you shouldn’t.  It is our job to get people to make a decision and we need to talk to the decision maker, which is the subconscious, so learn to talk to it directly so it will be open to what you suggest.

Mental Cleanse Chapter 2 - Desire

I want to share with you this timely lesson I learned from reading Chapter 2 of “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Every Wednesday, as part of Mentoring For FREE, our Mastermind group meets to share and discuss our thoughts after reading a chapter of the book.

CHAPTER 2 - DESIRE
The Starting Point Of All Achievement

On Monday we discussed Chapter 2 of Success in Ten
Steps, which is about how to get staying power in
business by nailing my 99.9% WHY - awesome enough to
keep me going through whatever obstacles I encounter.

My WHY has little or nothing to do with money.

Chapter 2 of Think and Grow Rich instructs me to define
the exact amount of money I want to make.

How do I reconcile these two Chapter 2’s?

First, my WHY.

In addition to having the time freedom to enjoy
traveling and doing things with those I love, being the
best man I can be for them,  and leaving behind a
legacy of new generations of life-owning critical
thinkers - I recently discovered what my true passion
in life is.

All my life I’ve wanted to be a teacher, an educator.

When I was a boy scout I enjoyed passing on skills to
the younger guys which they needed to advance.

In junior high school I discovered I also has a passion
for music. So I merged the two passions and decided to
become a music teacher.

I took a course of action which led me to study Music
Education at a major University.

Within a few years I became disillusioned.

I had no stomach for playing school system or teacher
union politics - or participating in the
progressive/socialist indoctrination of young minds
which would lead to the election of the tyrannical
government we enjoy today.

I just wanted to TEACH MUSIC!

I ventured into the world of commerce and learned
customer service skills. I advanced into management
positions where I taught employees the skills I had
learned.

As my children grew, I became involved in their
activities. I attended clinics for coaches so I could
teach them and their friends skills and techniques to
be better ball players.

My local league needed umpires, so I volunteered to be
one. Desiring to be the best I could be, I attended
many umpire clinics.

After I became proficient, I started teaching my own
clinics to pass on the skills to the newer folks.

Now, as I am learning them, I DESIRE to teach people
network marketing skills and how to think critically
for themselves - breaking the chains of self-slavery to
big government, big business, big bull markets, and big
internet gurus.

Mentoring For Free is my vehicle and platform. Cindy
Loewen stated it well when she said “be someone’s
miracle”.

I have already had clients tell me I am “their angel”
or “the answer to their prayers”.

So, I am living some of my WHY.

But what about the money?

I figure money is a tool to enable me to run my
physical plant (me), have the time to pursue my PASSION
- and enjoy the freedom to travel, play and live with
my loved ones, my teachers, my students - TO COME HOME!

Only $5,000 per month additional income will provide me
with the freedom I want. $10,000 per month will give me
twice the freedom - more better.

Building my team and moving beneficial products of my
network marketing company will reward me the income I
desire.

My PASSION and DESIRE are white-hot enough to fuel my
action, to do whatever is necessary, overcome all
set-backs, all criticism, whatever comes my way - to be
a WINNER.

A failure fails only once, whereas a winner fails many
times - and never stops.

Thank You Michael, Linda, Sarah Anne, my Friends, my
Teachers, my Students, for empowering me to BE the
passionate man I was destined to become!
