Hi! Ken Klemm here…
I want to share with you this timely lesson I learned from reading Chapter 6 - IMAGINATION- of “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Every Wednesday, as part of Mentoring For FREE, our Mastermind group meets to share and discuss our thoughts after reading a chapter of the book.

Chapter 6 - IMAGINATION
The Workshop Of The Mind
Goosebumps and tears…CREATIVE Imagination.
Synthesis is forming new stuff from existing stuff.
Creation is making new original stuff which never
before existed.
God created the universe from pure energy. His Thoughts
became the Word, and the Word became Reality.
I am made in the Likeness of God, and therefore have
the ability to Create.
A story about goose bumps and tears…
My friend Jim and I spent three years working on a
project, an album of his songs which told a story about
a man and his bike on the road in North America,
seeking to find “America” and himself.
We produced, engineered, arranged the music and played
most of the instruments and vocals. A major exercise in
Creative Imagination and Mastermind brainstorming.
It wasn’t always harmonious - sometimes we argued,
especially when mixing down all the tracks into two
stereo tracks. I chuckle at the memory when I hear
“Wasted Youth” by Meatloaf, with the chorus,
“Everything Louder than Everything Else.”
I composed an instrumental overture in my mind based on
Jim’s themes, wrote out a chart of the arrangement,
then went to work in the studio.
First I played and recorded the drum tracks, then added
the bass guitar. Next I had Jim record the acoustic
rhythm guitar chart I wrote out. Then I added the
acoustic piano, all the synthesized strings, woodwinds
and brass, and finally percussion.
When I was done, Jim asked if he could add an electric
lead guitar track over one section of the piece. We
did, and it was a perfect addition. The manifestation
of my Creative Imagination inspired HIS.
But the Epilogue is the REAL story. The last song of
the album was a climatic finish - where the lead
character in the story finds his home, tragically
perishes there in an accident, is buried, and the
legacy of his spirit lives on in the powerful and
dramatic ending.
I imagined an instrumental reflection to follow the
climax - somber, and deeply emotional. As I listened to
it in my mind - the music slowly building to a
thunderous climax, then settling back to a soft,
contemplative fade - I got goose bumps and tears.
Late one night, alone in the studio, I went to work on
my Epilogue - based on the weaving together of two of
Jim’s themes.
No drum track to set the foundation and pace, I
recorded the strings free-style with the full
arrangement playing in my mind - goose bumps and tears
again.
I laid down track after track, even the lead guitars -
my synthesizers could imitate anything. Then I mixed it
all down and played it for Jim.
I don’t know if he had the goose bumps and tears - I
wasn’t watching - but he was excited about including it
at the end of the album.
After we finished the project, we played the
compilation for some of our closest friends before we
took it to the mastering studio.
I watched this time. While listening to the Epilogue,
Jim’s mom and several others has goose bumps on their
arms and tears streaming down their cheeks.
YES!!! I didn’t care if we never made a dime from the
project - I was paid in full. I knew many listeners
would have the same reaction. Job well done, good and
faithful servant!
A few weeks ago, I had goose bumps on my arms and watery
eyes as I said to a new client, with a slight break in
my voice, “Robin…..it’s not Your fault.”
Silence on the other end. Then I could hear soft
sniffling sounds. Goosebumps and tears transmitted
across the phone lines!
Recently on a Team call, a lady deep down in my group
(I have never met or spoken to her sponsor directly)
gave a testimonial about what my company’s products had
done for her and changed her life.
Goosebumps and tears around the world, I think. My
mentor was so moved he was rendered speechless -
Michael Dlouhy, SPEECHLESS! He had to leave the call
for a bit to collect himself.
The president of my company wrote me with some tips on
how to present the testimonial with greater impact.
Goosebumps and tears - this time via duplication.
Perhaps the start of a LEGACY of them.
Goosebumps and tears - these are what move me and
motivate me.
Goosebumps and tears - and that, my friends, it the
core of my WHY.
Thank You Michael and Linda and all my Friends for
showing me the way and Your inspiration — and thank
You, Sarah Anne, for helping me dig deep.
Your Friend Always,
